RNIB – Royal National Institute of Blind People

Driving HR Stability Through Organisational Change.

RNIB Volunteers

Blind person and support

During a period of deep transformation, RNIB required senior HR leadership to ensure continuity and excellence across its team. When an established headhunter failed to deliver, we delivered the calibre and speed RNIB needed. Our HR expertise delivered four senior HR professionals, all of whom became longer‑term contributors.

Company Background – Leading UK Sight Loss Charity

The Royal National Institute of Blind People (RNIB) is the UK’s foremost sight loss charity, supporting blind and partially sighted individuals, their families, and carers with practical help, advocacy, and emotional support. With national reach and a mission to remove barriers for people with vision impairment, RNIB plays a critical role in public policy, service delivery, and community empowerment across the UK.

The Position – Senior Interim HR Leadership Needed

RNIB was undergoing a major reorganisation and needed senior HR interims to maintain standards and momentum within their HR team during transition. They had initially engaged a London headhunting firm but were frustrated by the lack of high-quality, relevant candidates. They turned to us to deliver on both pace and quality.

Within just two weeks of our engagement, we placed two senior HR Managers who were onboarded seamlessly. Shortly afterwards, we filled two additional HR roles. All four were initially hired on fixed-term contracts, and every one either had their contracts extended or was offered a permanent position, a clear indicator of our ability to source the perfect fit.

“2 years of successful partnership”

The Approach

We treated RNIB’s brief as time-critical and strategically essential. We quickly immersed ourselves in their culture and HR goals to ensure a strong fit on both skills and values.

Instead of mass advertising, we focused on targeted headhunting through our senior HR network, identifying high-quality, change-ready candidates.

Our streamlined process included rigorous screening, collaborative brief refinement with RNIB’s leadership, and continued support through onboarding and beyond, ensuring smooth transitions and long-term retention.

Despite high expectations and a tight timeline, our agile, quality-first approach achieved what others couldn’t.

The Outcome – Long-Term Success from Interim Solutions

Thanks to our commitment, RNIB secured four senior HR professionals during a volatile period. All of whom proved their value and were retained in longer-term roles. The project reinforced our role as a trusted recruitment partner for RNIB, and we continue to support them with senior HR and specialist hires.

This engagement underscores how agility, specialist focus, and uncompromising quality can transform recruitment outcomes for mission-driven organisations.
